coastal tropical climate; there are no extremes of temperature. Winter, from July
to September, when humidity and heat are lower, is the best time to visit. Tropical
rains are likely from January to April, when you can romance indoors. For diving
enthusiasts, the clearest waters are between December and March; surfers are advised
to go between June and August; while anglers will be delighted at the big game
fishing available from October to April.

EXCURSIONS IN THE MIDST
OF NATURE: (Monday – Full Day) On the edge of the tropical forest, Exil offers
you the opportunity to walk in the incredible natural parks of Combo and Black
River lulled by the songs of birds. Discover our flora & fauna and at the sight
of an extraordinary waterfall, you cannot resist the temptation of swimming. Then,
by 4x4, you will proceed to Andrea where the landscape follows the path of Rivière
des Anguilles down to the black-stoned cliffs where the waves break. The sea breeze

WILD
COLOURS: (Tuesday – Full Day) Trou aux Cerfs / Bois Chéri Tea Factory / Grand
Bassin / Black River Gorges / Chamarel From Trou aux Cerfs, a 700 000 year old
dormant volcano, you will enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding towns and
peaks of the South West of the island. Visit one of the most important tea factories
of the island at Bois Chéri. From the coconut-flavoured tea to the vanilla one,
experience this unique tropical taste and learn more about the different steps
to process tea leaves. Drive along the Plaine Champagne road and stop at Grand
Bassin, a sacred lake for the Hindus. The Black River Gorges overlooks the west
coast. Proceed to the Seven Coloured Earths of Chamarel, a unique volcanic phenomenon.
EXPERIENCE MAURITIUS: (Wednesday –
Full Day) Temple / Eureka Colonial House / “Escale Créole” Visit different religious
sites, reflection of the diversity of our cultures and religions. Discover our
colonial past in the house of Eureka, set against the backdrop of Mount Ory and
experience the Mauritian hospitality at Escale Créole while tasting a typical
home-made creole menu. ILE AUX CERFS: (Wednesday – Full Day) Nestled in the middle
of a sheltered lagoon of the east coast, this small paradise welcomes sun-tanners
and beach lovers as well as those looking for more excitement. Relax and enjoy
the sea and the sun.

– Option A: (Thursday – Full Day) The Pamplemousse Garden / “L’Aventure du Sucre”
/ Port Louis: the Citadel, the market, the Caudan Waterfront / Blue Penny Museum
/ At leisure (free time in Port-Louis) The Pamplemousse Garden, with its wide
variety of indigenous and endemic plants, is one of the oldest in the southern
hemisphere. Discover the sugar world in Beau Plan, an old sugar cane factory where
you will understand how this plant played an important role in our development.
Port Louis was founded during the French colonial period. Its historical monuments
are a witness of its past splendour whereas its economic development can be seen
in the activities around the harbour. Visit the Blue Penny museum, retracing the
history of Mauritius and exhibiting two of the world’s most precious stamps.

ROOTS: (Friday – Full Day) Ile Aux Aigrettes / Manioc Biscuit Factory / Saint
Aubin / “La Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes”. In the historical bay of Vieux
Grand Port on the south-east coast of the island, discover the nature reserve
of “Ile aux Aigrettes” which constitutes a refuge for endemic species of animals
including the Mauritius Pink Pigeon and the Ornate Day Gecko. Mahébourg, whose
name honours the famous French governor Mahé de Labourdonnais, is the village
where you can taste the traditional “biscuit manioc”, made from cassava according
to an old family recipe. Visit an anthurium and a vanilla nursery, as well as
the Rum Museum at Saint Aubin, a colonial house built in 1819. « La Vanille Réserve
des Mascareignes » constitutes a refuge for lethargic crocodiles, bats, giant
tortoises and other reptiles. An insectarium presents more than 20,000 species
of insects from different regions of the world. BOUTIKS: (Saturday – Half Day)

& MOUNTAIN BIKING: (Monday to Saturday – Half Day) Valriche is situated in Bel
Ombre, a sugar property in the South-West spread over approximately 3,000 hectares
of wide plains, indigenous forests, waterfalls and rivers, home to many endemic
and protected species. Explore this natural sanctuary and discover its hidden
treasures on foot and on mountain bike, on quad or 4X4, following forest paths.
Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the “Chateau de Bel Ombre” during a gourmet

DAILY CRUISE TO “ILOT GABRIEL”: (Full Day) Standard catamaran or Harris Wilson
catamaran Depart from Grand Baie in the North and sail outside the lagoon, passing
on the way the Coin de Mire island, a natural reserve for the famous Paille en
Queue. Relax during the day at Ilot Gabriel and discover this ‘Robinson island’
with its sandy beaches, luxuriant plants and blue lagoon.
CRUISE ON THE WEST COAST: (Tuesday to Sunday - Full Day) This cruise, along the
south-west coast of the island, offers magnificent views of the Black River Mountain
range and the famous “Le Morne Brabant”. With a little bit of luck you might come
across the dolphins in Tamarin Bay.
